New York's Alex Rodriguez, needing a home run to reach 500 for his career, struck out three times and went 0-for-4. He also made an error, botching a grounder to third that led to an unearned run.

Brian Roberts scored three runs for the Orioles, whose six-game run matches its best of the season. Baltimore has won eight in a row at home, its longest such streak since 2003, and improved to 6-2 against New York.

Tejada hit two-run doubles in the first and seventh innings. The last time he had as many as four RBIs in a game was on Aug. 23, 2005, against the Los Angeles Angels.

Burres (5-4) allowed one run and four hits in six-plus innings. He struck out the side in first and finished with seven strikeouts.

Because he is the fifth starter and the Orioles were off on July 19 and 23, Burres was pitching on 11 days' rest. The left-hander was pulled after Hideki Matsui led off the seventh with his 19th home run and Jorge Posada followed with a single.

That made it 3-1, but Baltimore answered with two runs in the bottom half, then added two in the eighth.

The lead barely held up. Posada hit a two-run homer off rookie Cory Doyne in the ninth and Melky Cabrera singled in a run to make it 7-4. Jamie Walker replaced Doyne, and Johnny Damon grounded into a double play for the first time in 103 games since Sept. 16, 2006.

Derek Jeter hit an RBI single, but Walker struck out Bobby Abreu (0-for-5) to end the game with A-Rod on deck. It was Walker's third save, all in Baltimore's last six games.

New York has lost three in a row, failing to win a series for the first time since the All-Star break.

Clemens (3-5) gave up four runs and eight hits in 6 1-3 innings, striking out six and walking three. Making his 700th start, the 44-year-old fell to 0-2 against the Orioles this season and 6-8 at Camden Yards.

Baltimore went up 2-0 in the first inning. Roberts hit a leadoff double and Nick Markakis walked before Tejada cleared the bases with a double, his first hit in six at-bats since coming off the 15-day disabled list Friday night.

Clemens also gave up two hits in the second, then righted himself with a perfect third.

In the fifth, Roberts drew a leadoff walk, advanced on a sacrifice and stole third. Markakis then lined a single over the outstretched glove of Rodriguez for a 3-0 lead.

Clemens was lifted after giving up a one-out single to Roberts in the seventh. Corey Patterson followed with a single off Mike Myers, moving Roberts to third, and Patterson stole second without a throw, slipping behind the drawn-up New York infield.

Markakis struck out, but Luis Vizcaino walked Kevin Millar to load the bases for Tejada, who plunked an opposite-field double to right.

After Rodriguez fumbled a grounder in the eighth, Roberts hit a sacrifice fly and Markakis drove in a run with a groundout.

Notes:@ The game drew a crowd of 48,402, the Orioles' third sellout of the season and second in two nights. ... Clemens' 700 starts is tied with Tommy John for sixth on the career list. ... Markakis has a team-high 64 RBIs; he had 62 last season as a rookie.
