Chinanews, Kunming, August 6 – According to a survey conducted by three junior high school students in Yunan Province, rural kids are keener on studies than urban kids. They need less encouragement from parents or teachers, instead they are very good at encouraging themselves, and they are easily impressed by the stories of those who make the grade through hard work.

Liu, Bai and Shi, are all from the Yunnan University Second High School. They initiated the survey to find out whether rural kids as students perform better than urban kids.

The survey was conducted in a Songyang Town High School, involving 30 questions.

The survey shows that though 70% of the respondents have made plans for their future, only 44% of the excellent rural students are carrying out their plans. Besides, rural students are more pragmatic, particularly those with mediocre academic performance.

Most students are interested in entertainment news. Next to entertainment news, rural students are also interested in news about economy and environment, while urban students are more interested in politics.
