A tree is on flames at Mavriki village during a forest fire at Egio region, west of Athens July 25, 2007.
Fires have devoured forests and homes in southeast Europe. In Greece, villagers in the Aigio region have been dealing with shock, grief and anger as they re-visit their burnt-out homes, while blazes have destroyed more than 600 hectares in central Turkey.
Meanwhile, the fires have lit up Croatia's countryside.
A deadly fire in the Greek region of Aigio has claimed the lives of two people.
The blaze has destroyed houses, churches, farms and businesses in several villages as it continued to burn for a third day on Thursday.
Residents returned to their areas to find nothing standing and their livestock dead.
They criticized the fire brigade for being understaffed and lacking the proper equipment.
Firefighters and soldiers have been fighting over two hundred blazes scattered across the country.
In Turkey, a fire continues to spread in Kutahya. More than six hundred hectares of forest have been burned since it broke out on Wednesday.
Eight helicopters are helping more than one hundred firefighters on the ground.
On Croatia's Adriatic coast, firefighters have managed to bring most of the fires under control.
