Pakistan: Statement of US military strike against al-Qaida "irresponsible"

Pakistan has bridled over comments by Washington over the past week suggesting the US military kept open the action against the Taliban and al Qaeda in Pakistan.
Following a meeting with British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, Pakistan's Foreign Minister said US military strikes on Pakistani soil would violate the country's sovereignty.
Khursheed Mehmood Kasuri, Pakistani Foreign Minister, said, "Such statements are irresponsible and they should not be made. In fact they are counterproductive to the sort of effort and cooperation that Pakistan and the United States are making jointly. And this may be election season in the United States but it should not be at our expense."
