Ms. Mary Jean Eisenhower


People-to-people diplomacy has become an indispensable component of general diplomacy for a country, and it is no doubt that in the future; it will play an even more important role in foreign relations. People to People International an organization focusing on people-to-people diplomacy – an organization that promotes friendly cooperation and exchanges among countries.
Mary Eisenhower, President of People to People International came to the Up-Close studio to illustrate their efforts in promoting understanding and exchanges at a grass-roots level. She is no stranger to China, since she has organized many trips and activities to facilitate U.S students and adults to become more familiar with China. Their footsteps are not solely in the metropolitan regions of China but also in remote and rural areas. By doing so, their experiences create a comprehensive reflection of China to help them understand the real China.
Mary Eisenhower is also the granddaughter of former U.S President Dwight D. Eisenhower. She told us intimate personal stories of her grandfather and her life as the granddaughter of an US President.
