The McLaren-Mercedes team has answered charges relating to the alleged possession of confidential technical data. The data belongs to rival team Ferrari.
McLaren-Mercedes' principal Ron Dennis attended the meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris on Thursday.
The team was charged with acquiring confidential information from rivals Ferrari.
If found guilty, team McLaren could have points deducted, or even be thrown out of the Formula One championship.
The hearing will examine how confidential data belonging to Ferrari ended up with suspended McLaren chief designer Mike Coughlan.
McLaren says its cars do not contain any Ferrari-related alterations.
Criminal investigations into the affair are under way in Italy and Britain.
